Dental Implants FAQ

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant consists of a titanium screw that is inserted into the bone beneath your gums, acting as a replacement for the root. This screw provides a foundation for a replacement crown, bridge, or dentures. After the screw is inserted into your jawbone, it slowly fuses to the bone. As time passes, the implant becomes part of your jaw structure. This helps it act and feel like a natural tooth.

What is the procedure like?

The process of receiving dental implants can take several months to complete, but in the end, the results are worth the time spent. In order to support the implant placement, you will need to have adequate bone structure. Once you have been prepared, the implants will be placed through incisions made in the gums. For the next step of the restoration process to begin, you will need to let the implants fully heal and integrate with your bone.

After the implants have fused with your jawbone, we can place your implant-supported crowns, bridges, or dentures. This is called implant restoration.

What are the benefits of dental implants?

A dental implant can have great benefits for both your dental health and self-confidence. When properly taken care of, a dental implant can last a lifetime. Among the many benefits of dental implants are:
